HARDWOOD FLOORING

Natural Beauty. Built to Last.

Discover premium engineered and solid hardwood flooring selected for the way we live in the Okanagan. From timeless natural oak to wide-plank contemporary designs, our showroom brings together exceptional hardwood collections for every style of home.

REAL WOOD. NATURAL CHARACTER.

Hardwood That Makes the Room

Few materials change the character of a home like real hardwood. Natural grain, subtle colour variation and the warmth of wood create a floor that becomes part of the architecture rather than simply covering it.

At Sierra Flooring, our showroom features carefully selected hardwood collections ranging from traditional solid hardwood to today’s wide-plank engineered floors. Our team can help you compare species, colours, grades, plank widths and construction methods to find the right floor for your home.

UNDERSTANDING HARDWOOD

Engineered or Solid Hardwood?

Both are genuine hardwood floors. The difference is how the plank is constructed and where it can be installed.

Engineered Hardwood

Engineered hardwood uses a genuine hardwood surface layer over a multi-layer core designed to improve dimensional stability. It has become one of the most popular hardwood choices for modern homes.

  • Genuine hardwood surface
  • Greater dimensional stability
  • Excellent choice for wide-plank flooring
  • Can be suitable over concrete
  • Many products can be used with radiant heat when approved by the manufacturer
  • Installation options may include nail, glue or floating systems depending on the product
  • Refinishing potential depends on the thickness of the hardwood wear layer

BEST FOR: Modern construction, wide planks, concrete substrates and areas where greater dimensional stability is desirable.

Solid Hardwood

Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of natural wood from top to bottom. It offers traditional hardwood construction and can provide generations of service when properly installed and maintained.

  • One solid piece of hardwood
  • Traditional hardwood construction
  • Can generally be sanded and refinished multiple times depending on remaining thickness
  • Usually nailed or stapled to an appropriate wood substrate
  • Best suited to controlled interior environments
  • Naturally expands and contracts as humidity changes
  • Available in many classic wood species and grades

BEST FOR: Traditional installations over wood subfloors where long-term refinishing potential is a priority.

Not sure which construction is right for your project? Our showroom team can review your subfloor, room conditions, installation method and design goals before recommending a product.

From Rustic Character to Clean Contemporary

Hardwood can completely change the personality of a room. Wide natural planks can create a relaxed contemporary interior, while richer tones and traditional species bring warmth and depth to classic homes.

CUSTOM CRAFTSMANSHIP

Hardwood Stairs Built Around the Home

A hardwood floor shouldn’t stop at the staircase. Sierra Flooring can create custom hardwood stair systems designed to carry the same material, colour and architectural detail throughout the home.

From traditional closed staircases to modern floating treads, our installers work with the flooring, stair components and surrounding finishes to create a finished result that feels intentional from one level to the next.
